Thomas Partey Granted Conditional Bail After Court Appearance on Rape and Sexual Assault Charges

Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been granted conditional bail following his appearance at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on August 5, 2025. The 32-year-old Ghanaian international faces six charges: five counts of rape involving two women and one count of sexual assault involving a third woman.

The alleged incidents are reported to have occurred between 2021 and 2022, during his tenure at Arsenal.

During the brief court session, Partey stood in the dock wearing a black zip-neck jumper. He was not required to enter a plea at this stage. His bail conditions stipulate that he must not contact any of the complainants and must notify the police of any permanent change of address or international travel plans. His next court appearance is scheduled for September 2, 2025, at the Old Bailey.

Partey, who joined Arsenal from Atlético Madrid in 2020 for approximately £45 million, left the club when his contract expired in June 2025. Reports indicate that he is set to join Spanish club Villarreal, although some fans have expressed concerns about his legal situation. His legal representative has stated that Partey denies all charges and is cooperating fully with the authorities.

The Crown Prosecution Service authorized the charges against Partey after a comprehensive investigation by the Metropolitan Police, which began in February 2022. The police have emphasized the importance of a fair trial and urged the public to avoid any actions that could prejudice the proceedings.

As the legal process unfolds, the football community and the public await further developments in this high-profile case.
