Afrobeats megastar Davido has revealed that he chose Akwa Ibom as the inaugural destination for his highly anticipated 2025 concert tour due to the state’s world-class infrastructure and serene environment. Speaking at a pre-concert reception in Uyo on October 26, 2025, hosted by Governor Umo Eno and Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Davido expressed his admiration for the state’s facilities, which stood out among other options across Africa. He emphasized that the state’s modern amenities made it the ideal venue for his first live concert in Nigeria after 14 years in the music industry.
The concert, held at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, marked the beginning of Davido’s “5ive Tour” across Nigeria. The tour will continue with performances in Adamawa, Enugu, Ibadan, and conclude in Lagos on December 25, 2025. Davido described the tour as “for the culture” and “personal,” highlighting his desire to bring the energy of his international performances back to his home country.
