Anambra Police Command Launches “Operation Zero Kidnapping” to Tackle Crime

The Anambra State Police Command has launched a joint security operation, codenamed “Operation Udo ga-achi” or “Operation Zero Kidnapping,” aimed at tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes in the state. This initiative marks a renewed commitment to addressing security challenges in the Southeast region, particularly during the Easter celebrations and beyond.

Objectives of the Operation

The operation seeks to ¹ ²:

  • Restore Public Confidence: By protecting communities and encouraging people to return home during festive periods without fear.
  • Dislodge Criminal Elements: Through massive raids on identified criminal flashpoints and hot spots within their Areas of Responsibility.
  • Stay Ahead of Criminal Threats: By leveraging intelligence-gathering and proactive measures such as targeted patrols, stop-and-search operations, and swift response teams.

Joint Security Effort

The operation is a collaborative effort between various security agencies, including ²:

  • Nigeria Police Force
  • Nigerian Army (302 Artillery Regiment)
  • Nigerian Navy (Naval Outpost)
  • Department of State Service
  • Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC)
  • Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC)
  • Anambra State Vigilante Group
  • Nigerian Correctional Service
  • Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS)
