Awujale’s Blessings Paved Way for My 2023 Victory – Tinubu

In a recent statement, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Nigeria’s President-elect in 2023, credited the traditional ruler of Ijebuland, the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, for his electoral success. Tinubu emphasized that the blessings and support he received from the Awujale played a significant role in his victory in the 2023 general elections.

During a visit to the Awujale’s palace, Tinubu expressed his gratitude to the monarch, describing the meeting as a moment of profound significance. He acknowledged the cultural and spiritual influence of the Awujale, noting that the blessings from the traditional ruler strengthened his campaign and resonated with the people of Ogun State and beyond.

“I am deeply thankful to His Royal Majesty, the Awujale of Ijebuland, for his prayers and blessings which paved the way for my victory,” Tinubu said. “His support is not only a symbol of cultural unity but also a testament to the importance of traditional institutions in Nigeria’s democratic process.”

The Awujale, Oba Sikiru Adetona, welcomed Tinubu warmly and prayed for his successful administration. He reiterated the importance of leadership that respects both modern governance and traditional values, urging Tinubu to govern with wisdom and fairness.

Political analysts have noted that Tinubu’s acknowledgment of the Awujale’s blessings reflects the enduring relevance of traditional rulers in Nigerian politics. These rulers often serve as key influencers and custodians of culture, playing a vital role in mobilizing support and legitimizing political figures.

As Nigeria prepares for Tinubu’s administration, the collaboration between modern political leaders and traditional institutions like the Awujale’s palace signals a continued blending of cultural heritage with contemporary governance.
