As the Super Eagles of Nigeria prepare to take on Zimbabwe in a crucial 2026 World Cup qualifier, captain William Troost-Ekong and star striker Victor Osimhen have issued a stern warning to the Zimbabweans.

In a clear message to their opponents, Ekong and Osimhen made it clear that the Super Eagles are hungry for victory and will stop at nothing to achieve their goal.
Ekong: “We’re Motivated to Play at the World Cup”
Speaking to the press, Ekong emphasized the team’s motivation to play at the highest level. “We read somewhere that the Zimbabweans are being motivated to come to Uyo and get a result. They should forget it. We are hugely motivated by the ambition to play at the FIFA World Cup,” he said.
The defender, who played a key role in Nigeria’s 2-0 victory over Rwanda, highlighted the team’s hunger to make history. “Apart from myself and Alex (Iwobi) and perhaps a couple others, who were part of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, this generation is hungry to play at the highest level. We want to make Nigeria proud and at the same time create our own history,” he added.
Osimhen: “We’ll Make it Difficult for Zimbabwe”
Osimhen, who has been in impressive form for both club and country, also echoed Ekong’s sentiments. The Napoli striker warned the Zimbabweans to expect a tough encounter. “We’ll make it difficult for them. We’re not going to make it easy,” he said.
The match against Zimbabwe is scheduled to take place on Tuesday at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo. With Ekong and Osimhen leading the charge, the Super Eagles are confident of securing a crucial victory.
Will the Zimbabweans be able to withstand the might of the Super Eagles? Only time will tell, but one thing is certain – Ekong and Osimhen have sounded a warning that Zimbabwe would do well to heed.
