JAMB Cautions Parents Against False Admission Denial Claims

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued a strong caution to parents against making unsubstantiated claims of admission denial for their wards. The board has observed a disturbing trend of parents alleging unfairness and irregularities in the admission process without verifiable evidence. JAMB is urging parents to utilize the proper channels for inquiry and complaint resolution rather than resorting to public accusations that can disrupt the process and mislead other stakeholders.

JAMB recognizes the anxiety and frustration parents experience when their children are not admitted to their preferred institutions. However, the board emphasizes that the admission process is transparent and based on established criteria. These criteria include the candidate’s UTME score, post-UTME performance (where applicable), O’Level results, and adherence to the institution’s specific admission requirements. JAMB plays a facilitating role, ensuring that institutions adhere to the guidelines and that admissions are conducted fairly.

The board has expressed concern that some parents resort to spreading misinformation and making false claims of admission denial without first seeking clarification from the relevant authorities. These actions can create unnecessary tension and undermine the credibility of the admission process. JAMB has established robust mechanisms for addressing genuine complaints and encourages parents to utilize these channels.

JAMB’s official website and designated helplines provide avenues for parents to inquire about their wards’ admission status and seek clarification on any concerns. The board also collaborates closely with institutions to ensure that admission processes are conducted fairly and transparently. Parents are advised to follow these established channels and provide accurate information to enable JAMB to effectively address their concerns.

The board reiterated its commitment to ensuring a level playing field for all candidates. It stressed that admissions are based on merit and adherence to established criteria, and that it will not condone any form of manipulation or irregularities. 1 JAMB urged parents to trust the integrity of the process and to cooperate with the board in ensuring a smooth and transparent admission exercise.

Furthermore, JAMB has cautioned parents against falling prey to fraudsters who may exploit their desperation by promising fake admissions. The board emphasized that it does not engage in direct admission and that all admissions are processed through the Central Admission Processing System (CAPS). Parents are advised to be wary of individuals or groups claiming to have influence over admission decisions and to report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities

In conclusion, JAMB is appealing to parents to exercise patience and follow the appropriate channels for addressing their concerns regarding admissions. By working together and adhering to established procedures, JAMB and parents can ensure a fair and transparent admission process for all candidates. The board reiterated its commitment to providing quality service and ensuring that all eligible candidates have an equal opportunity to pursue their educational aspirations.
