The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Gombe State has apprehended six individuals involved in the exhumation of a two-day-old corpse. The suspects were reportedly attempting to use the remains for ritual purposes.

According to NSCDC sources, the arrests were made following a tip-off from concerned members of the community. The suspects were found in possession of the exhumed body, which had been freshly buried. Upon interrogation, the individuals confessed to their intentions of using the remains for ritualistic practices.

The NSCDC has condemned such acts, emphasizing the sanctity of human life and the importance of respecting the deceased. The suspects are currently in custody, and investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of their activities and to identify any accomplices.

This incident highlights the persistent issue of ritualistic practices in certain regions, despite ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to curb such activities. The NSCDC has reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens and has called on the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.

The Gombe State Commandant of the NSCDC has assured that the suspects will face the full wrath of the law if found guilty. He also urged community leaders and members to continue collaborating with security agencies to eradicate such harmful practices from society.
